Cambodia is now one of the top destinations in Asia and is a magnet for travelers because of its rich history. A holiday in Cambodia will not be complete without checking out these awesome tourist attractions.

Angkor

Considered to be a very relevant archeological site in Southeast Asia, Angkor houses what remains of the Khmer Empire, which reigned from the 9th to 15th century. This is a UNESCO protected site and is among the most photographed attractions in the country. Recent studies reported that Angkor is actually the biggest pre-industrial city in the world and is often praised for its elaborate infrastructure system and water works. The main temple of Angkor, which is Angkor Wat, was built by King Suryavarman II between 1113 and 1150.

The Royal Palace & Silver Pagoda, Phnom Penh

Also one of the distinct landmarks in Cambodia is the Royal Palace. This was built over a century ago and serves as the official home of the King and his family. It is also an important venue for all court functions and events. To this day, it still houses the reigning King, as well as the former King of Cambodia. Its elaborate architecture is made even more interesting by a silver pagoda. The palace complex is comprised of many structures and gardens with breathtaking views of the river. With the exception of the Khemarin Palace, the place is open to the public.
