Here are some of Panama’s most popular dishes.


This is served in many countries but the local version is known to be thicker and is usually deep fried. Tortillas are a part of every meal. Some of the favorite toppings among locals are beans, cheese, and eggs.


This is the local version of the chicken soup with yams. It is served all throughout the country although the recipes vary depending on the region.


One of the country’s national dishes, this is a steamed dish that is based on corn dough that is usually filled with sweet peas, chicken, raisins, and onions. It is then wrapped in banana leaves and steamed to cook.
