How do I get from hotel to hotel?
Solimar provides you with a driver and van for 8 people for the week you are in Costa Rica. Your driver will pick up and drop off you and your group at the airport in San Jose and will take you to each hotel that you will be staying at for the rest of the week. If you would like to rent a car for your personal use or if you would like to have a driver and car for less than 8 people, Solimar will be happy to grant your request for an additional fee.
Do you offer traveler's insurance?
Yes -Solimar will assist each traveler with securing travel insurance
Do I need a passport or visa to travel to Costa Rica?
You will need a valid U.S. passport to enter and exit the country. However, you will not need a visa if you are staying in the country for less than 30 days.
What should I do if something were to go wrong while on the trip?
If anything should go wrong while you are in Costa Rica, Solimar has a staff member on call 24 hours a day to assist you with any issue that may arise.
Do I need to exchange my money?
Most places will take U.S. dollars and will except major credit cards. We would recommend exchanging some dollars to colones when you land in the country. Visa and MasterCard are the most widely accepted. You may have some trouble using American Express.
Do I need to bring any equipment for hiking, kayaking, rappelling, etc.?
You should bring comfortable shoes and clothes. All extra equipment that you may need for these types of activities will be provided by the hotel or organization that guides your excursion.
Will I need to know Spanish?
Though it would help, most hotel employees, guides and shop vendors have a working knowledge of English.
What is the climate like in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica is a tropical country, with a dry season and a rainy season. The dry season is from late December to April, while the rainy season is from May to late November or early December. Temperatures remain around 80 ° F on average, though higher altitudes may experience cooler weather.
Will I need to be concerned with getting vaccinated before I travel?
Costa Rica is a tropical country but no vaccinations are needed to visit. For information on vaccinations and other health-related concerns, contact the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's traveler's hotline at 1-877-FYI-TRIP or via the Internet at www.cdc.gov/travel .
